A Group Training Organisation (GTO) is an organisation that employs apprentices and places them with host employers to receive hands-on, on-the-job training in real work environments. At WetTrade Apprenticeships, we are the legal employer of our apprentices, which means we manage all employment-related responsibilities including wages, superannuation, payroll, leave entitlements, and workers compensation insurance. Host employers provide the day-to-day supervision and work experience on site, while WetTrade Apprenticeships oversees employment compliance, training coordination and apprentice support. This structure allows apprentices to receive high-quality trade experience while employers benefit from a supported workforce without carrying the administrative burden of direct employment.

WetTrade Apprenticeships employs apprentices and places them with approved host employers to complete the practical component of their training in the workplace. As the legal employer, we manage employment administration, while the host employer supervises the apprentice’s daily work and skill development. We also work closely with the Registered Training Organisation (RTO) to coordinate off-the-job training, ensure apprentices attend training as required, and monitor progression against the Training Plan. Where an apprentice requires exposure to additional skills or where host business needs change, WetTrade Apprenticeships may rotate an apprentice to another suitable host employer to ensure continuity of employment and well-rounded trade experience.

WetTrade Apprenticeships is responsible for managing the apprentice employment relationship and coordinating training arrangements with the RTO. This includes apprentice recruitment, induction, contract administration, payroll, insurance, workplace monitoring and compliance with State and Federal requirements. We maintain regular contact with host employers, apprentices and the RTO to support progress, resolve concerns and ensure training remains aligned to the Training Contract and Training Plan. Where issues arise related to performance, attendance or workplace challenges, WetTrade Apprenticeships provides early intervention and support to ensure apprentices remain engaged and on track. Training and assessment is delivered by the RTO named in the Training Contract.

WetTrade Apprenticeships follows a fair and structured recruitment process. Applicants are assessed on interest in the trade, attitude to work, safety awareness, communication skills, and suitability for employment. This may involve applications, interviews, work-readiness assessments and referee checks. We aim to identify applicants who demonstrate reliability, motivation and a genuine interest in pursuing a trade career. Suitable candidates are then matched with host employers based on availability, trade preference, location and workplace readiness to maximise the likelihood of long-term success.

Partnering with WetTrade Apprenticeships allows businesses to host apprentices without needing to manage employment tasks and compliance obligations. We manage payroll, superannuation, workers compensation, and regulatory reporting. Host employers receive practical support with performance management, training coordination and issue resolution. This arrangement reduces risk, saves time and provides access to trade-ready apprentices while maintaining flexibility within the business.

Yes. WetTrade Apprenticeships provides continuous support throughout the apprenticeship. We maintain regular communication, conduct site visits where required and coordinate training arrangements. Apprentices receive guidance, mentoring and assistance with workplace challenges and personal issues when required. This ongoing support helps reduce early withdrawals, improve retention and ensure apprentices remain focused on completing their training.

Apprentices employed by WetTrade Apprenticeships are paid directly by us in accordance with relevant industrial awards and legislative requirements. We handle payroll, superannuation contributions, tax obligations, leave entitlements and workers compensation insurance. Host employers are invoiced based on hours worked at an agreed rate, ensuring transparency and simplicity in managing workforce costs.

Yes. Host employers may directly employ an apprentice after hosting through WetTrade Apprenticeships, subject to approval by the State Training Authority. Where this occurs, transfer arrangements are facilitated to ensure continuity of training and employment. WetTrade Apprenticeships supports employers through this process and ensures training contracts are updated appropriately.
