This program is about building capability, independence and job readiness — step by step.
Starts: 20 April 2026
Duration: 20 Weeks
Location: Wolston Farmhouse – Wacol, Brisbane
Skill Up @ Wolston provides structured, paid training in the wet trades while working on community restoration projects.
Participants are employed by WetTrade Apprenticeships and complete supervised works aligned to the Certificate I qualification.
You’ll gain practical experience, build trade skills, and develop the work habits employers are looking for.
Important: Reliable transport is required for Wacol (Wolston Farmhouse).
These programs are designed to prepare you for real employment in the construction industry. That means we expect the same attitude and commitment you would bring to a workplace.
Successful participants will:
You don’t need experience — but you do need interest. We’re looking for people who are curious about how things are built, willing to learn practical skills, and motivated to explore a career in the wet trades.
This is a full-time traineeship (Monday–Friday, 7:30am–3:00pm). Consistent attendance is essential. Employers value reliability, punctuality and commitment — and this program mirrors real workplace expectations.
Much of the training is hands-on and site-based. You must be prepared to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and undertake practical construction tasks.
Construction work involves standing for long periods, lifting materials, using tools, and completing repetitive tasks safely. A reasonable level of physical capability is required.
Safety is critical in construction. Participants must be willing to follow instructions, use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, and maintain safe work practices.
We expect positive behaviour, respectful communication and a willingness to contribute. A strong work ethic, resilience and a proactive attitude will help you succeed.
Construction is team-based. You must be able to take direction, collaborate with others, and also complete tasks independently when required.
There is no public transport available to Wolston Farmhouse (Wacol) or Garima Conservation Reserve (Southern Gold Coast).
As Skill Up 4 Conservation operates across both Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Garima Conservation Reserve, reliable transport is essential for participation.
If you do not have reliable transport arrangements in place, you will not be eligible for these programs.
Transport may include:
Reliable daily access to transport is a mandatory requirement to meet attendance and workplace standards.
Across all three programs, participants receive:
